Be Honest When You Need to Be

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and be honest with your partner about things that might be hurtful to them.  If your partner is a really bad dancer, like Elaine from the Seinfeld show, in the above clip, you owe it to them to let them know.  Allowing them to make a fool of themselves will only make it harder later - unless your partner is okay with being the fool.  In the case above, Elaine thinks she is a great dancer and if someone would have told her even though it might have stung a little it, would have helped her avoid being made fun of later by her co-workers.

This type of honesty is hard to bring to a relationship because you don't want to hurt the feelings of the person you love so much.  However, it would be better for them to hear it from you than to become the butt of all the jokes later.   It is better to hurt their feelings a little now, than have their feelings smashed later.  Heck it might even lead to the two of you taking dance lessons together - without the kicks and the thumbs :)

Get Grounded - Together

A couple of posts back I asked if you or your partner are addicted to the Internet?  I also suggested that you put away your phones, computers, and other gadgets and head outside to spend some time in nature with your partner.

I am reminding you of this today!  The exact location doesn't matter, but set aside some time for you and your partner to spend some time in nature.  You could spend time in a park, the woods, by a pond, or just your back yard.  If you live in the middle of the city, you can still get outside and soak up the sun (even through clouds) and the breeze.  Take off your shoes and feel the Earth beneath your feet.  Sit down on the grass or a log....connect with Mother Earth.  My previous post had a picture of a couple on the beach, which is a wonderful place to connect with the Earth, but if you go back and look at it, you will understand why I used it in that particular post.

When we get too wrapped up in technology and in our heads instead of our hearts we can feel scattered and chaotic.  Reconnecting with the Earth will ground you.  I posted about this again so soon because it really is vitally important for us as beings on this planet.  We need this individually and with our partners.  If you have children, parents, pets, dear friends, arrange time to do this with them, too or at least recommend this to them!

Namaste dear ones,
Janelle

Relationship Reboot

When is the last time you rebooted your relationship!  When did you last take inventory of all the wonderful and fascinating things about your partner?  You know he/she is constantly changing and growing just like you and so is your relationship.  If you think your relationship is exactly the same as it was a year ago, you are very very wrong.  Take some time today and think about how your partner and relationship have evolved.  Then give your beloved a great big kiss and thank him/her for all those wonderful things you were just thinking about.

Do you know what you believe?

Random Acts of Kindness Day

Today is one of those obscure holidays.  It is Random Acts of Kindness Day.  While it is not near as big as Christmas or Thanksgiving, Random Acts of Kindness Day could be one of the best holidays ever.  Now you can share this in two ways with your partner.

First, you can let your partner be your recipient of the RAK.  However, if you want something different why not plan to do your RAK together as a team.  There are so many things you could do.  You could go out and clean a playground, go grab a bag of food and pass it out to the homeless people in your area, or buy someone lunch you don't even know.  Things you could do for your partner might include, cleaning out the car, completing some of his/her chores or even taking the towel and warming it in the dryer while he/she is in the shower.

No matter what you do today as your Random Act of Kindness it will surely bring a smile to someone's face.  Helping others get that smile will hopefully start a chain reaction and that person will pass along a RAK to another and create an additional smile.  Soon you might just pass someone on the street that is smiling because of the simple RAK you performed earlier.  This is the beauty of the day.  Now start smiling and planning how you can do your part.

Your Partner is Addicted to the Internet!

"Are you kidding me?  You actually brought your laptop to the beach!  What the heck?  Can't you spend any time just relaxing with me?"

"Um, in case you haven't noticed you are on your cell phone..."

Modern technology is amazing and wonderful, but too many people have lost touch with face-to-face interaction.  There is a loss of quiet time between partners.  The Internet and cell phones have come between too many lovers.

Before accusing your partner of spending too much time on the computer or his/her phone take a good look at your own habits.  Are you present with your partner?  Or do you spend too much time wrapped up in texting, Facebook, online games, chatting, etc. too?

I am not suggesting giving those things up all together.  They offer us fantastic ways of communicating.  They help people connect quickly and easily around the world.  Just don't forget about the physical reality right around you.

Put your phone, your iPad, your iPod, your laptop and any other technology away and go for a walk with your partner.  Go outside - take off your shoes - feel the Earth beneath your feet.  Be present and get grounded together.

The Spark You Seek Is Always With You!

I hear so many people talk about the spark and they need to find it.  That spark could be missing in their basic life, sexual relationship, or their spirituality.  The problem is they are looking for it all over the place.  Lifting up the cushions on the couch, in the cabinets or in answers from others.  They just don't realize that that spark is inside them and it is just bursting to come out.  For some reason they keep a cap on it.  Be it ego or that feeling that someone else's answer must be better keeps them from letting that electricity flow out of them.

Understand that you have great power and all that you need inside of you.  You have the power to spark everything in your life.  You are special and when you know it everyone else will feel it. -Rob

As a special treat to my beautiful partner I love, I had to add this little clip for her.
It might not mean love to many but for us it always brings a smile to our face.
Love you Baby,

So Much To Learn!

In this lifetime there is so much to learn.  The fact of the matter is that it is impossible to learn everything.  So, relax a little on yourself and learn at a pace that feels good to you.  Focus on one topic or one area of interest and learn what you can from it.  Then move on to something else.  Sometimes we just need to step away from the learning and experience life as it comes.  How many college students have you heard say, "I am done learning or I need a break from the books."  The truth of the matter is they actually do.  I know plenty of people that return to their studies after a break and are more focused then they did before they took that break.

Education is great and wonderful, however, sometimes you need to step back and experience all these things you are learning in your life without feeling pressure.   -Rob

Loss & Growth

"...there is no growth without loss...there also is no loss without growth."
--David Kessler

These few simple words are quite profound when you take the time to reflect upon them.
Have a beautiful day dear ones,
Janelle
