Today is one of those obscure holidays. It is Random Acts of Kindness Day. While it is not near as big as Christmas or Thanksgiving, Random Acts of Kindness Day could be one of the best holidays ever. Now you can share this in two ways with your partner.
First, you can let your partner be your recipient of the RAK. However, if you want something different why not plan to do your RAK together as a team. There are so many things you could do. You could go out and clean a playground, go grab a bag of food and pass it out to the homeless people in your area, or buy someone lunch you don't even know. Things you could do for your partner might include, cleaning out the car, completing some of his/her chores or even taking the towel and warming it in the dryer while he/she is in the shower.
No matter what you do today as your Random Act of Kindness it will surely bring a smile to someone's face. Helping others get that smile will hopefully start a chain reaction and that person will pass along a RAK to another and create an additional smile. Soon you might just pass someone on the street that is smiling because of the simple RAK you performed earlier. This is the beauty of the day. Now start smiling and planning how you can do your part.
"Are you kidding me? You actually brought your laptop to the beach! What the heck? Can't you spend any time just relaxing with me?"
"Um, in case you haven't noticed you are on your cell phone..."
Modern technology is amazing and wonderful, but too many people have lost touch with face-to-face interaction. There is a loss of quiet time between partners. The Internet and cell phones have come between too many lovers.
Before accusing your partner of spending too much time on the computer or his/her phone take a good look at your own habits. Are you present with your partner? Or do you spend too much time wrapped up in texting, Facebook, online games, chatting, etc. too?
I am not suggesting giving those things up all together. They offer us fantastic ways of communicating. They help people connect quickly and easily around the world. Just don't forget about the physical reality right around you.
Put your phone, your iPad, your iPod, your laptop and any other technology away and go for a walk with your partner. Go outside - take off your shoes - feel the Earth beneath your feet. Be present and get grounded together.

I hear so many people talk about the spark and they need to find it. That spark could be missing in their basic life, sexual relationship, or their spirituality. The problem is they are looking for it all over the place. Lifting up the cushions on the couch, in the cabinets or in answers from others. They just don't realize that that spark is inside them and it is just bursting to come out. For some reason they keep a cap on it. Be it ego or that feeling that someone else's answer must be better keeps them from letting that electricity flow out of them.
Understand that you have great power and all that you need inside of you. You have the power to spark everything in your life. You are special and when you know it everyone else will feel it. -Rob
In this lifetime there is so much to learn. The fact of the matter is that it is impossible to learn everything. So, relax a little on yourself and learn at a pace that feels good to you. Focus on one topic or one area of interest and learn what you can from it. Then move on to something else. Sometimes we just need to step away from the learning and experience life as it comes. How many college students have you heard say, "I am done learning or I need a break from the books." The truth of the matter is they actually do. I know plenty of people that return to their studies after a break and are more focused then they did before they took that break.
Education is great and wonderful, however, sometimes you need to step back and experience all these things you are learning in your life without feeling pressure. -Rob
There are many studies that show that couples who have an active sex life have far less stress than those who do not. However, lets examine this a little closer. The question I have is does the sexual intimacy help just keep stress away from the beginning or does the sexual intimacy actually work on the stress to lessen it. I have seen studies both ways. For me, I feel that it actually does both. I think that sexual intimacy allows you to avoid stress by keeping you relaxed and better able to handle situations as they arise. However, I also believe that the chemicals released during sexual intimacy can have a dramatic effect on the stress level in people. So, I really don't think it matters which way you look at it.
I also came across this interesting study and wanted to share it with you. - Rob
This information comes from Jennifer Bass, the head of information services at the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction in Bloomington, IN.
A recent study of college students at the State University of New York in Albany suggests that semen acts as an antidepressant. Females in the study who were having sex without condoms (see safe sex caution, above) had fewer signs of depression than women who used condoms or abstained from sex.
“These data are consistent with the possibility that semen may antagonize depressive symptoms,” the authors wrote, “and evidence which shows that the vagina absorbs a number of components of semen that can be detected in the bloodstream within a few hours of administration.”
I kid you not, ladies. Semen is good stuff. It gives a shot of zinc, calcium, potassium, fructose, proteins -- a veritable cornucopia of vitality!
I saw this photo and instantly thought of the blended spirit. Mmmm...yes, it is coming through in a much different way today. If you aren't sure what I mean by blended spirit then listen to our podcast where we talked about this click here.
So what drew me to this concept when looking at a picture of fruit loop-like cereal? Well, clearly there is a blend of different colors and proposed flavors or tastes. If you were to sort through the box and separate each color into individual bowls, you would have numerous bowls - but they would have little variety. When you combine them into one bowl you get a mixture of flavor and color. This mixture can enhance the overall flavor and creates a more interesting appearance.
In our lives, we are each a mixture of different "fruit loops". We all have an infinite amount of past experiences, old wounds, successes, failures, past and present friendships and love relationships. We bring so much to the table that it is truly mind boggling. This is why each and every one of us is truly unique. No two people have had the exact same experiences nor have they perceived their experiences the same. When we bring these aspects of ourselves into any relationship - be it romantic, family-oriented, work-related or with a stranger - we bump up against their experiences - the various aspects of them. Then those different pieces blend together (even if only briefly). This creates a blended energy or a blended spirit.
The above picture drew me today and I felt compelled to offer you a different way to grasp the concept of the blended spirit. I am not sure I will look at fruit loop cereal the same way again....will you?
Nothing gets my blood pumping faster than good conversation. However, the deep metaphysical and spiritual conversations I have with my partner are far and away my favorites. We can spend hours upon hours talking on fascinating subjects. This is a real turn on for me. Yes it turns me on physically - my blood is pumping and my partner even looks more beautiful in my eyes when we open these doors of perception. It also turns me on mentally and allows my mind to open up and unfold like the lotus yearning for the sun. I turn into a sponge and want to absorb my partner both physically and mentally. Maybe that sounds a little strange to you, but it makes perfect sense to me. Ultimately, this connects us spiritually too!
