Can you live without your partner?

As we age we grow more and more dependent on our partner. Once the children are gone and have their own lives we find ourselves returning to a place that we were at during the early stages of our relationship. We now have time for each other again, time to date, time to ourselves anything we want to do. It is like a second honeymoon. What happens when the that all changes and one of you passes away? In so many cases you see the other partner stop functioning or unable to function as they once did. How many times have you witnessed an older person passing and not long after their partner passes. Losing that love doesn't have to be a downward turn for the other partner. There are things to live for like grandchildren and you can enjoy those things knowing the other partner would have wanted you to. Understand at some point and time one of you will pass before the other, that is the usual way it happens.

My suggestion for couples are to be a couple but be able to function as an individual. Know how to handle all things around your house from the bills to the laundry. Know where the life insurance policies are, and the list of how to get a hold of all the people you both know. Find things to enjoy by yourself, don't stop sharing with your partner but have something for yourself. That thing might be what you need in the event you lose your partner. With all this you need to live each day thankful of the wonderful person your in a relationship with. Get past all those little things that bug you but don't really mean anything in the scope of life. Be strong have your own identity but enjoy your partner all you can.

Quite making excuses

Relationships are full of excuses. Excuses to get out of attending events, excuses for not having friends over, excuses for why the house is a mess, excuses for not making love and we can all fall into this trap. Excuses are easy to make up so that you don't have to go out of your way to do things. They can be as easy as I am tired to as complex as having several back up excuses so that if the first ones don't work you are covered. You can not mow the lawn because it's hot, or you can not go to your friends cook out because someone you don't like is going to be there. These are all cop outs and they don't allow you to live like you should. Stop making excuses today! Start living your life again and start enjoying your relationship like it is new again. Take that dance class, go to that ballgame, stay up late, enjoy life without excuses.

Can you use sex as cure all?

In most surveys people that claim to have the best relationships also have the best sex lives. In turn people that seem to be in the best of health, also report that their sex life is an important part of their routine. Doctors also will tell you that sex releases hormones that help to treat headaches, and pain. Orgasms are like a euphoric drug when it release the chemicals that cause a state of relaxation. With all this said what the hell is the question about sex, why would anyone not desire these things. How can you justify refusing your partner any of these things either? Increasing your life span, having a great relationship, feeling great what else do you want. Nothing is more fun then experiencing these things together while you are building a strong relationship. Now why are you sitting here still reading? Get your but out there and help your partner out.

Our Stress

Once you become a couple you have to share almost everything. Stress is one of these things that has to be shared. No matter whose has the stress it creeps into both of your lives. When one partner is stressed the other will surely feel the effects of this stress. The other partner might be grouchy or upset, or they might with drawl totally form the relationship for a while. The best method to combat this is take the stress on head first. Dive into the problem that is effecting your partner and see if you can help with a solution or just be an open ear to listen. Sometimes just getting the stress out in the open is enough for your partner to start feeling less stressed. Sometimes their stress demands attraction, don't try to avoid the stress that only makes it worse on both of you. Try to come to a solution and work around it the best you can. Once the stress passes you partner will be so greatfull to you that they might treat you a little special for putting up with their stress problems. If you think you will never have stress in your relationship you are in for a big surprise. No matter how comfortable you are something somewhere, some time will bring the ugly stress monster into your life.

History of Relationships

As we sit here wondering how important our relationship is to our lives, I would like to ask you to look back into history to see the importance of relationships of the past. Search for how many wars and battle were fought for love and how passion played an important roll in the forming of our history. Now how important do you think your relationship is? Could your relationship produce a president or the person that discovers a cure for cancer, maybe only time will tell. As long as we are looking back into the past to see how important love and relationships were I always push people to look at the ancient greeks. The Greeks created gods for everything from the sun to the sea but they also had several that assisted in the areas of love an relationships. Gods such as Aphrodite, Athena, Hera, Hestia, and Dionysus just to mention a few. This shows us that the ancient greeks were very worried about their relationships and how their lives played out with one another. Even their Semi-gods and spirits lead you further believe how important relationships were to the greeks, names for these creatures such as Fates, Muses, and Nymphs lead us to believe that the greeks were a romantic and sexual culture. Not to mention they wore toga's most of the time so you know they loved to party. Next time you are studying history take a look at the way they addressed the issues of relationship and intimacy. I think you will be surprised to see how important it was in each and every society that has ever been on the face of the earth.
