With No Growth...There Is Death

"If we try to remain the same and refrain from growing, to accommodate someone else's need for us to stay the same, the only long-term outcome is resentment, which kills whatever emotion there was there. Real love never restricts us nor demands that we stop developing."
-- Brenda Davies

How to Not Lose Touch With Your Lover

It is so easy to lose touch with your beloved partner.  In these modern times, it has become easier and easier to tune in to the television, your computer, your phone or your iPad.  This means you are tuning out from your sweetheart and your intimate relationship.  It may not seem so at first, but eventually, even being turned on by your lover will wane and become second to today’s media and digital gadgets and other things you fill your life with.  It is vital to stay tuned in to your relationship and to your partner so that you stay turned on by them too!  Only then can you work towards experiencing a long-lasting committed relationship filled with love and trust.

Relationships are actually spiritual paths for each of us.  Your romantic intimate relationship is the most profound of all.  It will offer you a mirror for your deepest emotions, expressions, neurotic patterns (we ALL have them), love, compassion, and humor to be reflected back to you in some fashion.
So, how can you reignite intimacy and sensual pleasure in your relationship?  And, if you still have it, how can you take it to the next level?

A Quick Note About Sensuality vs. Sexuality
More often than not if someone says to you, “That was a sensual delight.”  Your mind will instantly think “sex”.  But, sensual pleasure is really about gratifying the senses – all of them – not just the five physical ones.  You don’t have to involve physical lovemaking to experience your sensuality.

Delighting in the sight of your lover, hearing his/her laugh, smelling a special cologne, holding hands or
sharing a massage, or tasting his/her lips are sensual experiences.  Connecting to your own soul, your lover’s soul, and your spirituality is also very sensual.

Know YOU – Get Connected to Your Own Soul
Getting in touch with yourself, with your soul is the first step in reigniting or upleveling your intimate and sensual pleasure in life and in your relationship.  If you aren’t aware of your spirituality, simply focus on getting in touch with YOU.  Whatever or whoever you are to you.

The easiest and quickest way to reconnect with your soul is by first recognizing those things in your life that simply light you up inside.  They feel like they are the wind in your sails.  These things can be anything: drumming; singing; teaching; hiking; swimming; dancing; laughing; making love; cooking; gardening; cycling; etc.  There is no right or wrong.  Only you have the answer to what makes you feel this way.  The second step is to make sure you have some of these unique-to-you things in your life daily, weekly, monthly.  Bring them in to your life as often as you can.

You will be happier and this happiness will feed into your relationship.  Share these joys with your lover.

Know Your Sweetheart – Connect to His/Her Soul
This will take your relationship to a deeper level.  Once you (re)connect with your soul – yourself, it is vital that you connect with your sweetheart in a similar way.  What makes him/her light up?  How can you support that and bring more of that into your lives?  If both of you do this and then share it together, you will discover a beautiful aspect of your relationship that you may not have been aware of before.

Communicate
Communication is key to every single aspect of your relationship.  Yet, not everyone communicates in the same way.  You may be able to talk about your joys, your sorrows, what happened at work today, what the dog did to irritate you, what your best friend posted on your Facebook wall and what is upsetting you in your relationship.  But, your lover may not be able to easily talk about these things.  We can express our feelings through ways other than verbal communication.  It may come through singing, painting, or drawing.  Of course, one of the biggest ways to communicate is through body language.  Be fully present and truly pay attention to your lover.  Listen – deeply – to what he/she may say.  Observe his/her actions or reactions.  There are clues and often, clear messages even if the two of you communicate very differently.

Share Laughter and Play Together
Don’t take life or yourself too seriously.  Yes, of course, there are very serious aspects, but letting go and goofing around, laughing and being playful is a huge key to happiness and feeling joyful.  This will deepen the closeness between the two of you, which will ultimately help you enhance your sensuality overall.

Laugh at the dinner table.  Laugh while brushing your teeth.  Laugh throughout your day anywhere and everywhere that you can.  And, for God’s sake, laugh in the bedroom!

Share inside jokes with each other.  Maybe they will relate to a funny bedroom experience or something completely different, but they will be your little secret.  People will envy your closeness.  Allow yourselves to be like two young lovebirds giggling and whispering.

Sharing more laughter with each other and deepening your intimate bond will open a doorway for the two of you to experience powerful, playful passion all day long.  You will be able to feel it pretty much everyday.  Draw upon it when something gets you down or something causes you stress.

Continue to Learn and Grow Together
Continually seek new things to learn.  You can take classes together or pick up a new hobby together.  Yet, be bold enough to have new experiences individually, too.  By honoring and respecting your lover’s individuality you are helping the two of you grow.  You need to honor and respect YOU, your lover, and your relationship.  You are teammates, but you don’t need to stay attached at the hip all the time either.

Step outside your comfort zone.  Oh boy, this is a big one!  You can’t grow and sustain a beautiful relationship if you refuse to step outside of your comfort zone.  If you allow fear (fear of failing, fear of rejection, fear of looking like an idiot, fear of???) to keep you within in the boundaries of what you know already, then you prevent yourself from the potentiality of amazing new experiences and from continued growth.  Staying in your comfort zone without learning to step outside of it (even just a tiny baby step) will cause your life to become stagnate.  Hmmm…what will that do your relationship?
Imagine a beautiful flowing stream always moving and changing when the need arises.  Hear the gentle trickle and smell the fresh air. Now imagine a stagnant pool of water with debris piled up in it.  No pleasant sounds of moving water and a nasty stench to boot.  Would you prefer to continue gently flowing into the unknown or stay stagnate and backed-up?

Put It All Together
Get in touch with you.  Truly know your own soul.  Dive deep into whom your partner/lover/spouse is and whom he/she becomes as you continue your path together.  Communicate on numerous levels.  Talk to your lover, but be aware of your other forms of communication – body language, eye contact, and much more.  Be playful and bring more laughter into your lives.  Intentionally and willingly step outside of your comfort zone so that you continue to learn and experience new things.

These are simple ways to not only reignite your passion for your relationship, but for your life.  When passion and deep intimacy is sustained in your romantic relationship, your relationship will be stronger and more beautiful than you may ever have imagined.

The Key to Your Heart & Soul

We can't turn back time and undo the things that we have done or that have been done to us.  But, if we lock the door to our heart and to our soul and throw away the key, we can't continue growing either.
Pick up your key, insert it into the lock, turn it, and slowly and gently open the door.
Reach out your hand to the world, the future that you have yet to hold.
If need be, simply peek out the door.  When you are ready take those first few steps and see just what possibilities, what opportunities are waiting for you.
Just opening the door will allow fresh air to flow into your heart and soul.
Is it frightening?  To some - very much so.
Is it worth it?  YES!

5 Stages of Developing Sacred Sexuality

5 Stages of Developing Sacred Sexuality

In this fast paced world full of flashy movie images, internet, cell phones, text messaging and other technologies, we are in dire need of redefining our intimate relationships. Often times we treat our intimate relationships like a fast food chain. Bent on having the most pleasure and the most passion in the shortest amount of time without realizing that we have left out the heart altogether. And then we wonder why we burn through relationships so quickly! True connection happens when we are able to sustain contact with one another for many moments at a time instead of instinctively reaching for our phone to text or receive a text from someone else.
If we want to move into a sustainable loving mature relationship there are stages of interaction that allow for authentic connection and relationship building. Anything valuable is worth taking time to explore. Perhaps a question to ask oneself is, Do I really want to be in a partnership right now? Even if the answer is No, knowing the stages of building sacred sexuality in intimacy is a valid way toward understanding how best to move forward when that time arrives.
The way sacred is defined for the purposes of this article relates to a spiritual, protective, comfortable and compassionate space from which to experience sex and intimacy. Focusing on the sacred as a place within us and within our relationship that opens us toward experiencing true connection. In any authentic relationship, the process takes precedent over the outcome. By staying connected with one another, we value the process of being together more than an orgasm! And yet when an honorable connection is established through the following stages, orgasms reach heights beyond comprehension! Oooh la la!
Stages of Sacred Sexual Intimacy 1. Developing Friendship (No Sex Yet!) 2. Honest Communication = Listening 3. Intimate Touching and Massage 4. Sacred Love Making Date 5. Sacred Sexuality realized through practice!
1. Developing Friendship (No Sex Yet!) Let's begin by looking at the importance of developing a friendship with a love interest prior to having sexual intimacy. By slowly getting to know one another, in having fun adventures together two people learn the value of friendship. Taking time to learn about one another's passions, interests, and even fears. This is called dating! Really taking time to go on picnics, go to the movies, rock climbing, be silly together or whatever meets your fancy. For some people this process may take several weeks while for others it may take several months. If the dating process only takes several days, there may need to be a reevaluation about priorities. Is a partnership really desired? We can then be very honest with ourselves. Perhaps we do want a partnership, but then find after a few dates that we know more of what we want and what we want is not being met in this person! That is okay! We can only truly value someone when we value ourselves. When we value ourselves, we recognize that friendship and love relationships take time, energy and money. Where is the sex? It's coming! Do you sense the importance of building up to the climax? Let's stay with the process.
2. Honest Communication = Listening One of the most important components of a mature and healthy relationship is honest communication between two people. What is that? Honest communication actually includes one thing. Listening. Being quiet while the other person speaks her/his truth. Listening without interrupting! Being completely present with the other which means not talking on the phone, not checking email, not sending text messages, not talking to the kids etc. This type of listening is very important and most important in the beginning. Otherwise what is the point of being with someone who doesn't listen? A person might as well befriend a wall, a dog, or a cat. Which does happen! Authentic listening is one of the highest forms of intimacy we can experience. Listening with the whole body, mind and spirit. For some people, this level of intimacy is beyond sex! Woah nelly! There is great value in being truly present with someone by fully listening. The value comes from the heart being open to accepting the other person completely. Wow! Now we are getting somewhere!
3. Intimate Touching and Massage After developing a friendship in this way of listening and adventures, the loving intimacy of touch is ever so valued. Making massage and touch dates with one another is a lot of fun and amps up the attraction and desire 1000 fold! Still no sex! Seriously! The continuing build up occurs from a place of honoring one another through loving touch without having to act on the very primal urge of Wham Bam Thank You Maam! Both people respect one another more for holding out on that urge, and take time to really get to know one another's bodies. It's about the process. This practice is directly related to courtly love and Romantic Noble activity. Yes, even back in King Arthur's time, the men who courted the noble women relished in solely caressing their nude voluptuous bodies! Oooh, intriguing! Onward and upward!
If there is uncertainty on how to go about massaging, then exploration is a great way to learn! Make an appointment to receive a massage or check out a few books. Truly, massage is also about listening. Sitting quietly with the chosen lover and touching from the heart, not solely from the sexual desire! Why? When the energy becomes focused solely on the sex centers, often times the presence of heart goes out the door with the dog, so to speak! By maintaining eye contact through soft gazing at one another from the heart while simultaneously touching in a sexually intimate way, the sexual connections becomes sacred. Each person is more consciously aware of the love between them. Touching from the heart with gentleness and thoughtfulness allows for honoring of one another to continue. Otherwise, the sex takes over and potentially controls the future relating with one another instead of relating from the heart, the place of true love. Touching from the heart opens up trust in one another and furthers the desire while increasing the intensity of the orgasms! Yes, even for the man! It's an orgasm of a more potent, longer lasting and energetic vibratory experience!
4. Sacred Love Making Date Now is the time we all have been waiting for, the sex! Remember to continue to develop the friendship all the while the physical exploration continues. By this time, both people may realize that sex is not as important as they originally thought it would be and yet they are crazy for one another! In order to maintain a sense of honoring, a date of sacred love making is the best method to continue forth. Setting up candles, delightful soft music, soothing aromas, sweet foods, soft blankets, silky sheets and elegant night clothing. Begin the date by bathing one another. This can take place in a bath or shower. The main idea is to bring the attention to the loving gentle arousing touch while also shampooing and soaping one another! No sex in the shower! Then moving to the bed continue touching, caressing each other sensually, and listening to one another in body, mind and spirit. Oooh la la!
Time to address the practical thoughts wandering in this vein. It's important to remember that this sacred love making session is the first one with follow up dates spread throughout the year. The main thing to remember is to honor one another. We all know that once the sex begins it takes on many forms! If that means getting together in the woods during a lunch break, so be it! Just as long as you both know what sacred love making feels like, tastes like, looks like, sounds like, and smells like in order to come back to that way of being with one another. Now the stages are almost complete!
5. Sacred Sexuality realized through practice! One important aspect worth noting is recognizing that we are all doing the very best we can with what we have been given in this life. That means that happily ever after actually involves a lot of listening, honesty, and honoring of each other. Happily ever after involves discussions of a challenging and sometimes heightened manner as each person grows into a deeper understanding of what it means to love her/his own self while also loving another. The intimate sexual relationship flourishes through the practice of listening, honoring, touching and valuing one another in friendship and sacred sexual relating. Practice brings sustaining love and joy! Voila! Honest intimate friendship creates sacred sexuality! Enjoy!

Put a little pressure into your sex life.

Some of the most common complaint about coupes is about sex. There is not enough time, can't get in the mood, the kids are up, I'm tired, and these are just a few of the excuses people use to avoid making love. But why would you want to avoid it? there are so many health benefits to sex that is seems like you are doing your body wrong by not having sex. Plus the more you have it the better it gets and it keeps you young and healthy. No if you have been out of the practice of having sex often you need to pressure yourself into it. Start slow and let yourself build to the feeling of excitement. A little foreplay and teasing your partner will get you in the mood quicker then you waiting for it to happen on it's own. Sex can become a wonderful and exciting thing you share with your partner and all you have to do is start getting yourself in the mood. Take showers together, don't push away from kisses, let your hands rome a little while hugging are a few things you can do to make the juices start flowing. Nothing builds a relationship stronger then a good sexual relationship and not only does it build it but it makes it healthy and amazing. Studies show that couples with a strong sexual relationship live longer, are healthier, and claim to have a better relationship so why wouldn't you pressure yourself a little to have those things.

Fight the urge to think the worst.

Sometimes in a relationship we forget how much our partner loves us. We have visions pop into our heads either because to past problems in other relationship or because we listen to other people. Well for a relationship to thrive you have to trust one another. When you have that trust your partner will look even more beautiful and wonderful. Don't let the worries eat at you they only cause the worst to come about. When ever you start to wonder about things let your mind slip to found memories you have about great times in your relationship. How could your partner do anything put have love for you. Think the best and the best will come about. Make that trust you have the most important thinking in your mind and soon you will find your relationship growing. Far to many people try to control their partner and it is silly because the is the worst thing you can do if you want them to be happy with you. So relax and enjoy the love that they two of you have. If something happens then you deal with it as it comes don't bring it on by thinking about it.

Find other couples friends.

We all come into a relationship with our friends and like them or not it is part of being in a relationship to deal with them. The best thing that can happen is they get in a relationship, also. Then you can do things together as a couple and maybe just maybe the other partners will get along or become closer. As your relationship gets longer and times change you need to look for friends that are couples. Ones that are dedicated to being a couple and have a strong relationship. The people can help your relationship out greatly. For starters you can do couples things with them like going out or just hanging out talking. You will have similar interests especially if both couples have children. A good place to look for these couples is at your child's school having kids the same age is a big plus. You can even form a co-op with them and take turns watching the children so the other couple can have a date and not have to spring for a babysitter. Couples can offer support to each other to get through hard times. The bigger your ring of couples the better because you might have certain couples you enjoy going to shows with and others that you can experience the outdoors with. Open your relationship up to other couples and build a foundation of great friends it can make your relationship so much stronger.
