Being Fit Will Make Your Sex Life Happier

Stay Healthy and Enjoy a Happy Sex Life

Expert Author Karen Ficarelli
Women's fitness and healthy living can offer many benefits for your physical and mental health. But did you know that a healthy lifestyle may be the key to promoting a happy sex life? The better you feel physically the more likely it is that you will be healthy enough for sex. Building your muscles, especially your pelvic floor muscles actually helps to improve the functions of your sexual organs.
Nutrition is nature's medicine. Begin with a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins and healthy fats. Overeating, especially foods that are high in saturated fats, leads to high blood cholesterol and obesity, both major causes of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This can mean your body is not healthy enough for sex.
Sex is good for you. When women's estrogen levels drop at menopause, the vaginal walls lose some of their elasticity. It's possible to slow this process or even reverse it through sexual activity. Sex is your vagina's women's fitness program.
Exercise promotes healthy sex: Regular aerobic activity, Pilates, Yoga and strength training exercises all promote women's fitness and may help to improve your sex life. Exercise helps the cardio system and aids in flexibility and stamina to help you enjoy better sex for a longer time.
If your sex life is still lacking, you might try these helpful hints:
Get out of the bedroom. Maybe you've never had sex on the kitchen floor or in a secluded spot in the woods; now might be the time to try it. Or try exploring erotic books and films. Even just the feeling of naughtiness you get from checking out an X-rated movie at the local video store might make you feel frisky.
Sensuality counts. Create an environment for lovemaking that appeals to all five of your senses. Light scented candles, cover your bed with silk or satin for a sensual touch. Play music that you both enjoy, buy flowers and place in a lovely vase. Make your bedroom a special place to make love.
Be playful. Take a bubble bath together or even a shower. Being wet and naked together is a great lead-in to sex. Wash each other's backs. Tickle. Laugh. Enjoy.
Let your imagination soar. Be creative by varying your activity. For example, if you're used to making love on Saturday morning, choose Sunday morning instead. Have sex in the middle of the week. Be open to different positions and new activities. Try sex toys and purchase sexy lingerie.
Be romantic. Surprise each other with flowers when it isn't a special occasion. Plan a day when all you do is lie in bed, talk, and be intimate. Leave sweet messages on each other's cell phones. Tell your lover how special he is and how much you love him.

If your partner left you a love note....

If your partner left you a love note, what kind of note would you like it to be.

1. A Poem - Sweet and from the Heart?

2. A Humorous attempt to get you in bed later?

3. A Personal Message describing the ways they love you?

4. A Hot and Steamy, down and dirty Message?

5. Something else?

Tell us which type of letter you would like to receive. Give us details and if you have gotten any give us the scoop on them.

Thanks,

Hugs are not only fun they are important.

Touch is a wonderful thing that most all of us love. However it is not only an enjoyment it is a basic human need. Starting from the time we are born we crave and love touch. It tells us we are love, consoles us when we are upset and gives us a sense of desire and passion. Hugs have actually been shown to improve our lives. In the book THE ALADDIN FACTOR, it states that 4 hugs a day are needed for survival, 8 hugs a day to keep our relationship in tip top shape, and 12 hugs a day for our lives to grow and thrive. So stop being selfish with your hugs and don't stop with your partner make sure you children and family share the sensation also. Hugs are not as intimate as kisses so you can give them to friends and even strangers without fear of being weird. Everyone benefits from hugs so spread the hugs around and make sure to get your share.

Find new recipes!

As a couple we get into the patter of cooking the same things over and over. Remember the days where each day had a title as to what you were going to eat. Meatloaf Monday, Taco Tuesday, ...
Well just as you need spice in your relationship you need it in your diet also. Nowadays new and exciting dishes are just a click away using the internet. Find a website that you both like that has a variety of recipes for several different types of cuisine. Take turns picking out something that sounds wonderful to you and make a list of six new dishes. Then make it a point to try these dishes our during the next month. After 6 months of doing this you will have tried 36 new dishes. They don't have to be ones that take all day to cook find websites that have simple meals that busy people can prepare in no time. Now it becomes a challenge to find new and exciting recipes to out do each other. Grade each recipe after you have consumed the meal and anything with a low score toss out. Ones you give high marks you can store or put into your meal rotation. Now forget about boring Meatloaf Mondays and starting thinking of your meals as an adventure in taste.

Love can heal.

Love is one of the most powerful things in our lives. It gives us strength and power to do things we never thought we would be able, too. Yet we constantly doubt it's power. I have recently be studying Huna, which is a way of living the Hawaiian culture teaches, and it has shown me even more how important love is to our daily life. Love is the feeling that someone is there to catch you and make you feel better. Which leads me to or subject for today. Love, can it heal? We know it is a wonderful feeling but can it make your health better? Yes is the answer. Studies show that people who claim to be in love actually live longer than those that don't. Love is a great reliever of stress, and you have someone to vent your anger with. Now your stress level is lower. We can see the long terms of love quite easily, together we are stronger. How about a quick healing can love cure illnesses right away. Is there the power to cure cancer or heat problems in our love? I say that if you truly believe so with out a doubt that yes love can heal those challenges. The problems lies in that we are taught that this doesn't work. We fall into societies ignorance that you don't need love and that love is an desire not a need. Well my friends I don't know about you but love is more than a desire to me. It roots deep in my soul and I can feel it's power. Now trying to find a way to use that love power to heal the ill is another challenge. For starters that person has to believe in the power to or their body will reject your love like it rejects or tries to fight off viruses. I like to think of love like water let it flow through both of you and cleanse the challenged area diluting and disputing the challengers hold on the ill persons body. Hold each other and imagine water rushing though both of your bodies let the passion you hold for each other take over and speak no words. I am not knocking modern medicine and I feel it is also very powerful but I think for someone to truly get well they need this love cleanse to coarse through their body. Now we all know that we cannot live forever that is not an option but to extend the time you are together to love each other, now that my friends is a miracle. Each and every extra minute you can get is a blessing, just ask someone that has lost a love.

Is a kiss just a kiss?

When you kiss your partner good bye or hello is it just a greeting or more than that? After all you don't kiss everyone hello or goodbye do you? Aside from you kids or your parents that usually doesn't happen. So, I ask again is a kiss more than we give it credit for. Is it the passing of breath between two lovers? Is it exchanging life force or your inner light? We might never know why a kiss is so important. The tingling lips the moister in the act causes me to believe that is a sharing in some sort of way. You can even tell your partners feelings in their kiss, by the pressure or the force behind it. Heck you can even tell if they are mad at you by their kiss. Maybe if we put more focus on each kiss we share with our partner we might start to become closer then ever before. Some people say that kissing is foreplay and I agree but I think it is so much more deeper that that. I think it is two being one and the sharing of desires and passions and of space. Most people don't think about kissing in this manner but next time you kiss your partner really see if you can feel what they are feeling, then look deep in their eyes telling them you love them.

Discussing thing in a deeper Manner.

Do you know your partners views on life and death, what about their religious beliefs or feelings? Do they believe in evolution, or what about bigfoot, the loch ness monster, or aliens? How do they feel about dreams and their spirit? Most people I hope feel comfortable enough with their partners to let them know how they feel about these things. However, still several do not for fear of having a different opinion then the one they love. After all how could two people stay together is one believes in bigfoot and the other thinks it is just a guy in an ape suite? I joke but their is a lot of passion in discussing your believes no matter what they are on. The wonderful part about it is most likely we will never know the correct answers as long as we are on earth. We can have different views on what happens after death because we don't know for sure. The important thing is to discuss these feelings, explain them to your lover, and listen without judging to their views. This is a great way to get closer, excepting their side and their feelings will make you understand them a little better. This got started last night on our drive home from the John Edwards -Psychic Medium show we attended last night. My partner has very deep and thought out views on spirituality and I love to hear her explain them. The wonderful part about her is that she will listen to my views or won't laugh at my questions. I love these deep conversations with her we have been having them a lot lately and they have my mind thinking about things that I didn't even realize would have impact on my life. The point of all this is get to know your partner a little better and you don't have to agree 100% with them but it is nice to hear their feelings and passion about them.

Special Note to my partner if you are reading this - "Thank you for the wonderful conversations we have, I love hearing your views and passions. Don't ever stop explaining your feelings to me. I love you"

Avoid the Excuse trap.

Excuses are our way out of things, they give us justifiable reasons not to do things. However some times we go to the excuse mill way to many times. Instead of stepping up we find an excuse to help us avoid the task. We can easily fall into the excuse trap and it is ever so true in a relationship. When we are dating we would use excuses to call the person we couldn't get off our minds. As our relationship progresses we use them to avoid things we don't want to deal with. Next time your partner asks you to do something, make it a point to avoid the excuses and say yes. They might ask you if you want to go out for the evening, and if they do don't recoil and think of why you don't want to. Think about the reasons to say yes. Life can pass us by pretty quickly and if you are constantly putting things off soon you will find yourself regretting all the things you made excuses for. So, take that hand in hand walk, go see that movie, take showers together, and make love into the late hours. This way when the day is done and you look back you won't be saying I wish I would have done that!!!!

An easy way to keep love alive.

There is a simple way to make your relationship the most important thing in your life. Simply put you need to love your partner everyday like it might be the last time. Now we are not suggesting that you should hope anything bad would befall your partner. What we are saying is that you should appreciate them daily for all they do. What if they were not in your life how much harder would it be? What do they do to make your life easier? Do they get the kids ready in the morning, to they get up early to take a shower so you can sleep longer, do they do the dishes even if it is not their turn, or maybe they give you time to relax. Whatever the reason you should love them for all they do because it is not guaranteed that it will always be there. People that lose someone suddenly always say the same thing, "If I knew this was going to happen I would have done this differently (speaking about the last time they were together)" We don't want you to think about bad things happening to your partner but we want you to appreciate all they do while they are hear with you. Once they are gone you cannot make up the past, plus when you appreciate them they will most likely respond with more of what you are appreciating them for. Life is way to short not to make love a priority, and if you are not you are short changing yourself and the people you love.

Are you the aggressor in your sex life, if not become one tonight.

Usually one person in a relationship is the more aggressive one when it comes to initiating sex. If that is not you, then tonight I want you to suck it up and be the aggressor. What a shock to your mate if you are the one that hunts them down to make love. This might be a little hard for you but your mate will truly love it. If you can't go full out then at least make some sort of effort. Nothing shows you partner that you love them more then breaking out of your normal routine to show them you care. Wear something sexy, send naughty text messages to them, passionately kiss them when they least expect it, turn off the television and give them a look that cannot be mistaken, what ever you do make it bold and direct statement. Tonight you be the jungle cat stalking it's prey, just don't break the skin when you bite.

"Sex is the glue that holds a relationship together"

"Sex is the glue that holds a relationship together" is a quote I heard on the podcast The Marital Intimacy Show that you can pick up on itunes. I agree whole heartily with this statement. There are so may aspects to our relationships but certain areas seem to help stabilize our relationship. Things like trust, care, concern are all very important in a relationship. However if you are in a committed relationship sex is the aspect that you don't share with anyone but your partner, these other factors you can experience with others that you have contact with such as friends and family. Heck you can even have trust, care and concern for your boss for peat sake. Sex however is the one thing that you save only for your relationship (I don't mean to offend those with alternative lifestyles, but my understanding is you have a relationship with each and every person involved in your life style) When you thing about it then the more glue you put on something the stronger the hold so it stands to reason that the better your sex life the better your relationship. As a matter of fact of all the people that I consider as having a great relationship the one thing that they have in common is a great sex life. It goes hand in hand. So, put some glue into your relationship today.

Appreciate the People that make your life easier.

I know this blog is about couples but, there are I am sure people in your life that help make your relationship a little better. Maybe it's the baby sitter, or the person that cleans your house but these types of people help you attend more to your relationship, by taking things off your hands and allowing you to go on dates or just relax together. It could be the kid that mows your lawn or shovels your driveway, how about the person that does you hair for special occasions. What about the neighbor that get your mail while your away on a romantic getaway. Think about the people that make your life a little easier and then go out and pick up a little something for them. Get them a gift certificate to the local fast food joint, or a movie pass it doesn't have to be a huge present just a little token of your appreciation for them. No matter how small they will appreciate it.

Chap stick could save your relationship!

The time is here for bitter winter weather and if you are not prepared it can greatly effect your love life. As the wind whips across your lips it can make them dry and chapped. Chapped lips make for lousy kissing and without kissing passion seems to take a back seat. Have you ever heard any one say, "Oh your chapped lips are so sexy" Of coarse not it is the exact opposite. Protection is a must so you need to stock up on Chapstick and lip balm for those days when you must be out in the cold and windy conditions. Make it a point to carry a tube around with you at all times so that you don't have to search for one. With that said always keep a spare around because these little tubes of sex life saving product seem to get misplaced quite often. This post might seem a little silly right now but you will be thanking me the next time you start making out and your partner enjoys your lips, instead of complains about them.

Start you count down!

With just a week to go before Christmas if you haven't started your Christmas countdown you need to start. Think of a way to count down these last few days before the wonderful day of Christmas. Weather it be a kiss or a hug each day with the number of days left or a sign above your bed. Get each other several little presents to pass back and forth each of the remaining days until Christmas. Take turns being the aggressor in your sex life, on the odd days you take the lead and let your partner get their way on the even days left until Christmas. Watch a different Christmas show each day, wrap so many presents each of the number of days left, or just take a toy and donate it to a local charity that gives them out at Christmas time to mark the closing in on Christmas. Whatever you decide make it fun and important to your and your partner.

How do we workout?

When you exercise do you do it together or apart? Well the readers of The Couple Spot seem to enjoy working out together. Most of our viewers either worked out with their partner on a regular basis or at least part of the time they worked out. Very few of our members stated that the would never work out with their partner. Getting it shape should be part of your life and since your partner is part of your life also it only makes sense to work out together. After all you both want to live a long time, together.

Encourage each other.

When you are in a relationship you have to become each others support for the relationship to thrive. We all have fears and are timid about tyring something new, looking for a new job, or even learning. Deep down inside our minds we know the thing we are striving for is a step in the right direction. We still are timid about getting out of our comfort zone, so we start popping ideas into our head things like "What if this doesn't work?" or "How could I possibly have time to take that class?" We put these fears in our mind as a defense to help us stay in the position that we are that our mind feels is comfortable. This is where our partner can be such a big help. The are not our mind and they will view the idea as what it is worth. Sure they might have some doubts but when we address them most often we see that they are the same fears we have.

This help to put things in perspective and with your partners support, it gives you all the more reason to pursue the thing you are looking to accomplish. When we become a couple we do more sharing then you realize. Sharing our fears and dreams are part of a relationship. Yes, you can both have dreams that are not the same but with extra support from a loving partner it makes it so much easier to go for it. Another great benefit is that if your partner and you are both on the same page for making a change then you get added support when you venture out to achieve your goal. You partner will understand if it puts more on their plate to do chores while you are studying or that you need a little extra time to read or go for an interview. These items not only will benefit you personally but it will benefit you both as a couple. Now, the next time your partner tells you something drastic they want to change, you need to help them figure out a way the two of you can handle this change. Then TOGETHER you can reap the benefits of this change when it happens. Sometimes you have to take some chances to get ahead, and they are scary but with the added support of your partner they don't seem quite as bad.

Your Life's Soundtrack

I wonder sometimes why I don't listen to more music? When the wife and I are folding laundry or just hanging out, it never seems that I remember that the silence that so often fills our house could be avoided by simply playing some music. Most everyone love some sort of music so it makes sense to play some during your most mundane tasks. Music can get your blood pumping and maybe get you up to do a little exercising while you are just sitting completing your task. If you have an iPod then you need to get you a playlist set up with the upbeat music that you love so the next time you and your partner are just sitting their doing a boring task you can get up and dance so excitement into your relationship. Be silly and get your heart pumping.

Don't stop there start putting music everywhere in your life, listen to it while you take a shower (Keep all electrical devices away for the water, duh), find some music to make out to, or some to sit and listen to on the porch while you sip a drink. Our memories are sometimes attached to songs that are playing in the background during an event that happens. If you have children get them involved also and pick songs that are fun to sing and move to. Start them young and put music in their lives. Look at it this way have you ever seen a movie that didn't have music playing in the background during the important parts? Unless the want you to hear what the actors are saying music is playing. Lets put a soundtrack in the background of our lives start compiling songs today.
