Gifts?

I had a reader respond that they were a little miffed with their husband and the gifts they he purchases for her for their anniversary, birthday, and Christmas. Her concern was that she got things that were useful instead of things that were sentimental. I hate to generalize because everyone is different but most men like getting things that they will use such as sports equipment, tools, or electronic devices. This flows over into their own gift giving ideas, while you think a sweeper would be a horrible gift, in the typical man's mind a new sweeper would be great as it would help get things done better and faster. Men don't on the surface think about how sentimental gifts can be. Plus they don't listen very well when you are dropping hints. If you say "Oh I like that" as you pass something in the mall, he thinks you just kinda like the item and doesn't store it into his memory bank. Women if you want your man to really know what you like you need to be very straight forward. Lead them over to the item and make them look at it with you for a while, then say "That would make a lovely gift, I would love to have it someday" Now you man will store that as a direct gift to give you. Ladies watch how your man looks at things he wants to have, it is very clear when he wants something, you have to be that straight forward with him. Once you get him thinking about getting you presents that don't have a purpose then you might begin to see him branch out and start doing a better job of pick out presents on his own. One last note, when you do get something that you truly want, make a big deal about it, cry, jump up and down, hug and kiss him with passion because those are images he wants you to do when he gives you a gift. This will make sure the next time he goes out to get you a present, he will be looking for one that gets the same reaction. If a vacuum is what you really want however try to contain yourself when you open it because if you go crazy, you might just get a new model of vacuum every year.

Getting back to Life.

December 26th the day after Christmas and it is time to start getting your life back to normal. The last few weeks you have probably spend shopping and cooking for the holidays and now that the big day is over you should have more time to relax or get things done you have been meaning to do. Don't you wish that Christmas could last all year long at least the feeling of it. To capture this feeling of Christmas a little longer as you start to take down all you decorations make an event of it like you do setting them up. Plan a date to take down the decorations, maybe new years day, and make a little celebration of it play Christmas music, make a special meal to enjoy packing away your Christmas things. Spend the day being with the person you love and if you think about it hold back a Christmas present to give them after all the decorations are put away and stored. By doing this and making a celebration of it we are trying to keep that feeling of Christmas inside our relationship for the entire year. If everyone was as compassionate and caring as they are during the holidays we would see a huge difference in the world around us. As a couple however the main focus you want to put into this is that special feeling you get from being with your partner during the holidays. How did you react when you got your favorite gift? Shouldn't we be that happy with our partner all the year long, when they do the little things like take out the trash or do the dishes. Sometimes we forget how truly special the person we are with is, Christmas helps remind us of that, but why should we wait until Christmas to reward them?

Watch those reactions.

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you are enjoying your most magical of days. I also hope that you receive some nice presents this year. As you go through your day however I want you to do something that is very simple. Watch your partner open their presents and watch their reactions. See how quickly they search for your eyes when they open something that has importance to them. Count how many kisses you get on this blessed day, add in all the hugs and hand holding. Throw in all the snuggling and relaxing moments you spend with each other. Pay attention to how your partner reacts to you. At the end of the evening sit down and count your blessings I think you will be surprised how truly lucky you are. Merry Christmas to all and to all I wish a great relationship.

Ready yourself for the Big Day.

Tis the day that Santa comes and you need to make sure you have everything in place. Do you have your special presents for your partner ready and wrapped? Is the mistletoe hung on the headboard of your bed? No other holiday is as focused on family as Christmas. Take the time and enjoy being with the person you love this Christmas and if you have children bask in their glory as you snuggle with each other and watch how excited they are. With the coming of Santa tonight marks the quickest time of the year, soon it will be tomorrow and all the presents will be unwrapped, so slow it down a little tonight and spend some time kissing and snuggling around your Christmas tree, just make sure you are in bed in time for Santa to come.

Special Paper for Special Presents!

IF your like me every year you get your partner something special. Be it jewelry or sports tickets it is something that will make them do back flips after opening it. Well special presents deserve special wrapping paper. You can choose from a variety of types of paper but make sure it fits the person you are wrapping it for. So if your partner loves the smurfs find some smurf christmas paper and wrap only their special present inside it. By using only this paper to wrap their special present you will have no problem finding it on Christmas so that you can make them open it last. You can use this same trick on presents you want them to unwrap at certain times. Say for instance you got them some really nice sleep pants and want them to wear them Christmas Eve you could do the same thing. Plus by using paper that matches their personality it shows that you care that much more.

Start you count down!

With just a week to go before Christmas if you haven't started your Christmas countdown you need to start. Think of a way to count down these last few days before the wonderful day of Christmas. Weather it be a kiss or a hug each day with the number of days left or a sign above your bed. Get each other several little presents to pass back and forth each of the remaining days until Christmas. Take turns being the aggressor in your sex life, on the odd days you take the lead and let your partner get their way on the even days left until Christmas. Watch a different Christmas show each day, wrap so many presents each of the number of days left, or just take a toy and donate it to a local charity that gives them out at Christmas time to mark the closing in on Christmas. Whatever you decide make it fun and important to your and your partner.

Get your Game on for after the Unwrapping on Christmas.

Now is the time to think of what the two of you are going to do after all the presents are unwrapped and the food has been digested. Go out and pick up some games that will be fun, whether it is just the two of you or the whole family. Pick some games that can get everyone involved find one that has questions that you can ask each other or other members of your family that are still hanging around. Board games are nice but they don't allow you to get comfortable as you have to sit around a table so you have room for the board. I would suggest just taking the cards and go around the room asking questions to each other. One of my favorite game of all time is the Loaded Questions line. The questions really get you thinking as you have to explain your answer and their are no right or wrong answers it really helps you to get to know someone better by playing. Not only is it fun but it is a great conversation starter for times when everyone is being quiet. Click on the title of this post to go to the Loaded Questions Game Site, they even have an adult version that you can play after you kick everyone out of the house.

Get yourself a little something this year.

This may sound a little zany but go out and purchase yourself a little something this year. When you get home wrap it up and on the name take put that the present is to you and from your partner. Don't speak a word of the present and only put it under the tree when you have lots of other things under it also. When it comes your turn to unwrap it you have to put on a good act and pretend like you don't have any idea what it is. Go overboard thanking your partner for getting you such a wonderful present and see how they react. Maybe right away they will say, "I didn't get you that" or "Where did that come from". After seeing your reaction they might just take the glory on picking out the wonderful present. Just watch the look on their face it will be priceless.

Do a little shopping for the two of you!

This the season to be jolly and what better way then to buy something fun for the two of you. In this day and age is is so easy to find something with a little spark to it without going somewhere that you might be seen by your neighbor, your childrens teachers, or even you minister. The internet allows couples to browse and choose items to spice up their relationship without ever leaving the comforts of their home. No more sneaking around or standing a few aisles over to look at the item you want to share with your partner. When you order over the internet even the packaging is descret, so you don't have to worry about your mailperson or neighbor finding out what is in the box. This fact alone has helped couples branch out a little and try new things to improve the sex in their relationship. Tonight get out the hot cocoa and find a online sex toy shop that fits your bill and do a little shopping for the couple in you. Take turns picking out a toy or do a random search and pick what ever you turn up. Then try it out and see what happens you never know until you try and try and try again, see where the fun comes in on this.

Great Gift Idea - Tickets

Tickets are a great idea for Christmas because they not only make it exciting when the receiver opens them but they will also be thinking how great you are while they are at the event. When I say tickets I think about sporting events, however there are so many other place that require tickets to get into. Things such as plays, shows, theme parks and even airplanes are great ideas based on the person you are purchasing them for. Make sure to get two tickets at least for each event because no one wants to go to an event alone, and hopefully they will take you with them. Depending on your budget, you could maybe even purchase season tickets to something. That would be a gift that keeps on giving all throughout the season. Taylor you picks to your partner, so don't get them tickets to the opera if they would rather have football tickets. Also make sure it is a time that won't conflict with anything else on their schedule. Reactions from getting tickets are usually comparable to touchdown dances performed on Sunday afternoons.

Learn about other cultures this Christmas.

We here in the United States are pretty secure in our view of Christmas so much so that we actually don’t know how other cultures view Christmas. One thing that is hard for me to understand is what do people do that live in warm climates during Christmas. Obviously they don’t go sledding or make snowmen. I think it would be a wonderful thing if the two of you picked a country and did some research on how the celebrate Christmas. Maybe you can pick a place that your ancestors hailed from? Find out what kind of dishes they eat, how the view Santa, what the weather is during the holiday, and traditions that the have handed down from generation to generation. Who knows maybe you will find something you like and start it as a tradition in your house. Try to put some of the culture you learn about into the two of your Christmas this season.

Stealth Wrapping

We all know that certain things come in a certain shape of box. For instance jewelry comes either in those cube style boxes or the long slender ones. DVD's and video game are a distinct box of their own. Even when we were kids we could tell a clothes box from the good stuff. Now if you want to mask your present to throw your partner off track, just mix up these boxes a little. For example if you purchase a necklace for your love grab an old DVD case off the shelf that no one will miss and tape the necklace inside the box. They will most likely guess you got them a new movie instead of the present that they will just adore. Another easy thing to do is to wrap your present inside a larger box. Say you got your love tickets to the next football game then wrap the tickets in a normal size box and then rewrap it in a much larger box. Don't be afraid to throw in sound effects either, things such as marbles, uncooked macaroni, or even rice help throw the person off the trail. Another thing you can do is chance the weight of the present but bricks or rocks inside to make it seem like something that would be heavy. If you object is to large to wrap say like a bike or a sofa a great way to put it into a present is to take a picture of the item and then use the above mentioned ideas to wrap up the picture, then have the item in the garage waiting. Surprise and anticipation is the key to having a wonderful Christmas morning so be sneaky, very very sneaky.

Give, Give, Give....

During this time of season we really think about needy people ones that are in our lives and ones that we know nothing about. Sometimes I tear up hearing about a child that doesn't have enough to eat or that hasn't any parents at this time of year. It's hard enough to make ends meet and get everything done we need to do but can you imagine not even having the means to complete the most basic tasks, like brushing your teeth? I know this holiday I am going to put a little extra effort into giving. Go out and when you pick up your basic needs such as toothpaste, pick up an extra tube and drop it off at the homeless shelter. Cleaning out your closet for new Christmas clothes take them to a place that gives them to the needy. Volunteer you time to help serve dinner at a shelter and make donations to organizations that need funding. This way when you are snuggled up with your sweetheart in your nice warm house you will get an even better feeling by knowing that you helped someone less fortunate. Get your partner involved and your kids if you have any, you won't believe the wonderful feeling it gives you to help someone that is down on their luck. Believe me you will see the appreciation in their eyes. Then don't forget about this feeling the rest of the year.

Make sure when you partner wakes up on Christmas they are just as excited as when they were a kid.

Remember the wonderful feeling when you were a kid and you woke up on Christmas morning. You would run out of bed with your feet barely hitting the floor. Now we might not be able to get each other that excited about Christmas but you can make it a fun festive day for the two of you. If you have any children in the house you shouldn't have any problem. Watching them is excitement enough. If you don't have any children in the house then you need to make plans to have a wonderful day together. Get up early and make a wonderful breakfast together. Then Shower and slip into some warm comfy clothing and exchange gifts. Then you have the rest of the day to enjoy. Maybe a nice walk on Christmas day would be good or relaxing with some hot cocoa might be your thing. If your social creatures invite some friends over to play board games or watch movies. The point of the day is to make it special not like all the other days of the year. Make sure to set some time for the two of you to get a little closer during this wonderful day, make love, snuggle, and sleep in each others arms. Now that my friends is a very Merry Christmas.

Take a Moonlight Drive.

During the Holiday season a very romantic thing to do is to take a late night drive and check out all the Christmas decorations. Only at this time of year will your drive be filled with houses decked out in lights or festive holiday themes. If you check around a bit you might find a local park or zoo that might have a small charge for a wonderful light display. I know just about 20 minutes from our house a park has a light show that is a must see for us and our children every year. Make a little challenge of it and mark you favorites, rate them from best to worst so that next year you can return as most people find this a competition any way. You can usually find the same houses decorated each year if you can remember where they are. Sometimes you will find whole neighborhoods dressed in lights while other times you might just find a diamond in the rough out off a back road. Ask around your friends and sometimes they can lead you to some of the more wonderful light displays. The most wonderful part about this activity is that no matter how big your family is everyone can enjoy it. If it is only the two of you or is you have four kids it can still be just as wonderful listening to them get excited looking for lights.

Shop with planning, Love with passion

The holiday season can be pretty crazy at this time of year. Everyone is out trying to get their shopping done before the big day. This is the exact reason you have to have a shopping plan in place before you head out. Roaming around the store not knowing what you are going to get is like wandering lost in the jungle. The time is now to get your strategy planned out by first of all deciding or at least have an idea of what you are looking for in the store before you enter. Check the Internet to find the best presents, you can even find some web sites that will give you suggestions for that hard to buy for person in your life. If you can find a floor plan of the mall or store you will be shopping it get it and study the areas you will need to hit during your shopping trip, backtracking and roaming are only good for wasting time. Once you get to your shopping destination stay focused it is easy to get off track and start looking at things that you won't be buying. Follow your path and grab and go on your way around the store, then hit the cashier and exit the store. When you follow your plan this will free you up to spend more time with the people that you are shopping for. I would much rather spend time snuggling with my wife and watching Christmas Movies or even just our tree then running around a store frantically.

Make a date out of picking out your own Christmas Tree

A great thing to do spending the day together is going out and picking out your own Christmas tree. Make sure you get to cut it down yourself, load it up on your car and take it home to decorate. The two of you (and kids if you have them) will have a great time tromping through the woods or Tree farm to find just the right tree to fit in your house. Don’t just pick the first one that looks good spend some time thinking about it plus this gives you wonder time to duck behind a tree for a quick kiss or two. Once you find the perfect tree cut it down and load it up on your car. Now you have more fun ahead as you get it home and start decorating it. Make it an event make some hot chocolate or maybe even a couple of drinks or a bottle of wine to enhance the event. Once you finally get done you will have the satisfaction of sitting down and watching the lights blink all over this wonderful symbol of not only Christmas but of your love and team work.
