Romance Is At Hand

Many Americans have dreamed about visiting Venice and taking a ride in its most iconic mode of transportation, the gondola. But a lot of us are too busy to drop everything and go abroad; fortunately, there are gondoliers in many stateside cities who specialize in bringing a little Venetian romance and relaxation into your life.

We were asked to share this article with you and we are pleased to do so, but we also wanted to share a couple of places that were not mentioned.  Here they are:

Texting to Break-Up

Times sure have changed haven't they?
One of our teenage sons has been broken up with and broken up with another
via text messaging.  What happened to doing this in person, or the Dear John letter?
What is next?  Might as well be our elementary kids texting their homework answers.

Oh, That Is a Hot One!

This summer we planted a small red chile pepper plant.  We finally have a few red and ready to pick.  We will see just how hot these little treasures are.  The point is that we have enjoyed watching this precious little plant form blooms and their beautiful blooms have turned into little tiny peppers, then bigger, then RED ones.

It has been a small, but enjoyable thing to share with each other this summer.  And, now we will soon try them out and see if they are super hot and make one of us do a funny little dance looking for a glass of milk to sooth our burning mouth.

Search out new things for lovers.

Relationships are a common ground most of the time. Their is safety and a routine that you start to follow. You get sucked into following the same schedule, eating the same things, and following the patterns that are comfortable. I want to suggest breaking out of those routines. Find something different to do. Take a class together or jus take off driving with no place in mind to go just end up someplace. When we were dating new experiences were all around us and part of that was trying to find out what your partner was like or what they enjoyed. Why does this have to stop take that energy you used and drag your partner to a cooking party or a dance class. Stop falling into the same pattern of wake, work, eat, sleep. Start experiencing life together as if you were dating again. You should make it a point to relearn your partner everyday.

Push stuff you need to do alone until later.

One thing I think can benefit any relationship is taking time to be together during the evening. Don't spend your time tinkering in the garage or reading a book in the other room. Make it a point to spend good quality time together. Do your reading or tinkering after you have spent some quality time with each other. I suggest setting time right before bed for you to do your other interest of if your like me do it after my partner has gone to bed. The downfall of many relationships is when we stop enjoying being together. Growing apart while still in the same household is more common than you think. Snuggle down in a chair to watch something, play a game, get a great conversation started anything that will get you close and talking is a relationship builder. The important thing is you are spending quality time together and take the time to listen to what is going on in his/her life outside the house. You will find that he/she is still as interesting as when you were dating and you spent all your time focused on each other.

Dating for Couples with children!

Many of you out there are in your relationships and are blessed with the wonders of having children. This is absolutely one of the best feelings in the world being a parent. Yet, it makes it very tough to make plans to go out on dates. Not only do you have to find a place to go that fits within your budget, now you have to find a babysitter and you are back to having a curfew. If you live near you family, you might be able to get the cheapest and best babysitters around in your family. Once you have secured the sitter the next thing you have to worry about is the unexpected. Children have a way of getting sick at the most unwanted time or they find a way to make you feel guilty about going out without them. Sickness is something you can't get around, however feeling guilty is one that if you are getting plenty of quality time with your child, you should make yourself numb to it. Adults need their time to and both of you need time to get out and have adult things to do. You need to go places that don't have puppets or people dressed as animals to entertain yourself. You might want to consume a beer or mixed drink which you can't do with the children, or you might want to try a food that might not be to good for a little ones pallet. No matter the reason parents need their time, too. So latch on to a good babysitter and start planning now to have a normal date night. Be it Sunday afternoon, or Saturday night. By doing this you will keep yourself fresh and ready to spend that time with your little ones by knowing that on a certain date you will be able to act like grown ups and get to have conversations that don't include Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Make time for each other every day.

If you are not dedicating time to your relationship each and everyday then you are running the risk of your relationship stalling. I am not saying that you have to spend every waking minute together. However, there are areas of your relationship that need time to help it grow. You should spend some quality time together each and every day conversing. Speaking to each other about anything helps you keep the lines of communication open for when you really need to talk to each other about something important. I suggest spending about a half hour of your day should be set aside for the two of you to talk. At least once a week you need to set aside time to date each other. Be it a night out or just to get a movie and some popcorn and snuggle down on the couch. It is important to keep chasing each other if you will, dress up like you did when you were trying to impress each other and bring some fire back into your relationship. Lastly at least a couple of times a week you need to make time for intimacy. Passion is an important part of any relationship that survives and thrives. I have read many studies that say that the couples that are the most happy have a wonderful sex life. Get out of the dark ages and schedule your love making, this way you don't just leave it to chance plus when you know you are going to have a exciting round of love making your anticipation will make you a tiger in the bedroom. Relationship are like anything else in your life you have to give it the time that it need. Think about it how would your kids turn out if you didn't give them any time, what about your job, or the housework. I hope you are getting my meaning and will dedicate time to your relationship today.

Great Date Place on a budget - The Library

You might not think that the Library is a great place for a date but think about it you have several thing at the library to help with all your dating needs. Your local library has a lot more than books if your is anything like ours. They have DVDs, books on CD, and periodicals. Now you are still probably scratching your head and wondering how the library can be a great place for a date. Well if you don't have much money to spend on a date the two of you can browse the movie section of your library, while they may not have all the current releases they are sure to have something that is romantic for the two of you to watch. Think of all the great old movies that you haven't seen in a while, most likely you can find these at your library. Next the two of you can do a little scavenger hunt by looking for information on something that the two of you would like to get into once your budget isn't so limited. Maybe you both want to try skydiving one day well you can start finding all kinds of books on the subject and begin doing research on the topic so that when your finances allow it you will be ready. Finally the two of you can look up items that can spice up your relationship, things like self-help books on ways to be a better lover, or erotic literature to read to each other. Maybe even a book on budget travel to help you get to the destinations you want to venture to. One thing the library does is give you the information you need to learn about any topic on the face of the planet, so apply for your library card today and enjoy the look on your partners face when you ask them on a date to your library.

Throw in the hat when you want to avoid the "What do you want to do" blues

Okay it is time for the two of you to get out and have some alone time. You set down to decide where your date night will take you then you hear those dreaded words and make your cringe, "What do you want to do?" and the most typical response is "I don't know what do you want to do?" This can go on for hours, and when someone finally makes a suggestion the other person usually shoots it down. Well here is a fun and exciting way to take the "What do you want to do" out of your dating plans. Write down all the places you like to eat, activities you like to do, and even the odd things you do every once in a while. Then cut out each idea and throw them into a hat. Keep the hat in a safe place and now every time you get a chance to get out draw a piece for paper from the hat, presto that is what you are going to do. You can put anything into the hat and if you want to make a couple of hats up. One with places to eat and another for activities to do after you eat. Every time you think of a new place to go or something new to do throw it in the hat. The more ideas in the hat the less bored you will get. You can throw the idea back into the hat if you wish but I suggest keeping it out for the new time you draw. Now instead of saying "what do you want to do?" you will save all that time and be able to spend more of it enjoying each other.

Treat each date like a first date.

I know once you get to be a couple your dating seems to change. If you living in the same house it seems a little weird to be getting ready for a date, while your partner is doing the same thing. To make this seem a little more exciting do this next time you are going to go out. One of you gets ready firsts, then you set a time for your date. The partner that is ready then leaves, to return at the set time. Then the other partner begins getting ready for the date. The partner that is ready can do anything they want until time to pick up their date. You could go hang out at your local pub, or go shopping anything to pass the time until your date. Then when the time come you proceed to go pick up your date. It might seem a little weird to go to the house in which you live to pick up the person you are already sleeping with. Make light of the situation and remember the first time you picked them up for a date. See if you can get those butterflies in your stomach again. Maybe purchase something new to wear that your partner has never seen you in as of yet. It is little things like this that can keep your relationship in the best shape, don't be afraid to be silly and show your partner how much they mean to you.

Stress got you down ..Get out some old pictures.

Is your partner stressed? Are they having a terrible day at work or traffic got them ready to strangle someone. We all feel like this from time to time. When you or your partner are feeling the weight for stress I suggest getting out some of your old photos. Get the ones of the two of you on vacation or on your honeymoon. They can be pictures of your children romping through the woods, or holiday gatherings. The only stipulation is that the events in the pictures were relatively stress free. Remember the time you spend together when you were dating, and the only thing that meant anything was the two of you. Do you have pictures of that time in your life well bring them out if you do. Remember the funny time when your cares where not even present and bring out pictures of that. You might have to do a little digging in the basement or attic but you know that those images are there.

Help your partner recover from their stress. Take them back to a place ,with the use of old photos, that will sooth their inner beast.

We cannot relive the past but we can remember it!

Time Away

You know sometimes we all just need some time away. I think this is a good thing in a relationship. It reminds you of the longing you had for each other when you relationship was new. You remember the days hoping the other person would call you for a date. Well when we are apart we need to remember those feeling. Today it is even easier to stay in touch with cell phones and email. So when your a couple you really are never disconnected.

Going to work helps with the separation from time to time. It's nice to come home to your partner when you haven't seen them all day. You usually have things to talk about or concerns that arose during your day. It's a chance for you two to get reconnected on a daily basis. My parents worked together for 20 plus years and when they were off they had nothing to talk about. So I think it is important for a relationship to have time apart.

Now I don't think long absences are necessarily good for a relationship when they are frequent. I do, however, think they are good every once in a while. They bring back those feelings that you really miss your partner. When you know they will be home at five you don't really get the same feeling. Make note of how you feel when your partner returns home from an extended period of time. I bet your heart is racing and you just can't wait to get them in your arms.

Here is an exercise to try. Spend the day apart, totally. No calls, no emails, go for a day away with your friends or just by yourself. Then make dinner plans for the two of you that evening. I want you to not even see each other until dinner time. It will be like a date you had when you were dating. You just might remember how special that person setting across the table from you is. That is if you have forgotten.
